Halloween in ILC Sarband

My name is Madina I am from ILC Sarband. Yesterday was the 29th of October. Everybody know, that on the 31st of October is very interesting, horrible and funny holiday It’s Halloween! And we celebrated this holiday in our Internet Learning Centre (I.L.C.) too. But we celebrated this holiday on the 29th of October. Halloween liked to me very much. We were sinking songs, were reading poems and of course we were playing in different games. At the first of all our teacher Zebo has congratulated us with happy Halloween, then Olim has told us about Halloween, how people celebrate this holiday in different countries and about history of Halloween on tajik language. After it English part of holiday has started. We together have sank a song “ Halloween is coming soon!”. Then every pupil who had a letter of Halloween word, came to the chalkboard and they have told what means all letters of Halloween. When they have finished it, we sing a song “Halloween’s sounds”. After our songs Subhiddin, Zamira and Bahtiyor has read us their poems on English “Witch, Witch” and “Black Cat”. And after the poems I have read the poem “Trick or Treat.” Then everybody have sank a song “ Trick or Treat.”.

And when we stopped our English part we have played in different interesting games. To my mind the most funny games were: to fasten the tail to the donkey, and other is to eat the hanging apples. But another games were very interesting too. Then was the main part of Halloween, cutting the pumpkin. Sure Halloween is not a real Halloween without pumpkin or Jack-o Lantern. When we have cut our pumpkin we sink a song about the pumpkin. Of course we took many photos. And it was the last part of our holiday. It was very interesting and unforgettable Halloween. And now I know about Halloween more information then earlier. And I’m very glad that we celebrated Halloween too. I thanks full to my teacher Zebo and to Internet Centre. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Chat about about English lubs in our ILCs

Hello everyone,

I wanted to put in our blog about webchat where i participated and answered to all questions about English clubs in all our Internet learning centers. It was pleasure for me to to asnwer to all questions.

murodova_zebo: Nice to meet you Rukhshona, yes iw as in US by Relief International Schoolsonline Teacher Exchange program in 2004 year.

murodova_zebo:  Jurabek if in your club there are many student from different forms  it is ok. In my club students are from 9th 10 th 11th grade they all come andlean toghether in different topics.
olim_mengyarov: How do u thaink Ms.Zebo is it profit have many students in English club or few student?Olim
murodova_zebo: Hi Olim, if there will many students it is ok. students can learn from each other
murodova_zebo: Students can do many interesting activities in their English clubs. Our English club was opened in 2005 year.
abdukaumova_farzona: ms Zebo, how do u think, can student learn english and make good speach just visit English club forums? webs?
halima_isfara: what can you advice to learn english in a short time Rukhshona and Taborak from Isfara
murodova_zebo:  yes Farzona there is forum wheer you can ask any questions there and webchats are very useful too. It will improve your writing skills
olim_mengyarov: Ms.Zebo can u tell about your English club in Sarband?how many students u have and what they are doing when u are absent and so on.??
murodova_zebo:  Rukhshona in our  club students come and they have little  knowledge of English and in club we help them to read and write and in our club students teach eath other and help to each other to improve their English.I think all depend froma  person. if you set your goal that you will master English in short time you will  do.It is up to your desire.

abdukaumova_farzona: what is the most intersting for ur students in English-club trainings?
murodova_zebo:  as I told our English club was opened in 2005 and it is working till now. We do many interesting activities..We translate our tajik folk tales into English and then perform it. We like celebrate British and American holidays. Every year we celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving Day, St, Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Earth Day,Teachers Day, New Year, Christmas and others.We also like to sing songs too. We find  lyric and MP3 of any Amrican pop music in Internet and then altogether sing it.  We really like our English club. This year we will focus in role plays,reader’s theater. And of course we will record all our performances.
giyoeva:  Akram from schol#10 How many students will be in a one club?
murodova_zebo:   I think 10 o r 15 students it is  good  for club.
murodova_zebo: the most Interesting is acting dialogues and  role plays.  I see that they like it very much and  I record  all their performances and show them.

olim_mengyarov: How do u think most useful to English clubs to learn from Internet or books?And what u say about your students?Olim

murodova_zebo:  Umedjon: i love  to use many inteersting activities in my english clubs, especially songs.
nabuvat_nosirova: sorry what sites do you use to teach in your English club?
murodova_zebo:    to improve your English you can use Internet too and from books we  can have some additional materials for reading. In Internet there are many online tests which we use them too.
giyoeva: Boys from school#10. When do you begin your work in you center? Do you like your work?

murodova_zebo:  nabuvat: I like to search in Internet many useful  materials  and see  many sites and create my own materials and submit in our english club website

olim_mengyarov: Had u ever any problems or heardships in this club during your work times?olim
abdukaumova_farzona: How do u use ur US knowleges in ur tarinings? Do ur  students can easy understand what do u do and how they try to understand ur speech, in tarinings?
murodova_zebo:  hello  boys from school#10  I began working in ILC in 2004 year and  I love my job very much.

murodova_zebo: Farzona i leearn many useful things for myself and my teaching changed  alittle and my pronounciation too. But in english club i speak slowly that my students undestand.
halima_isfara: Zebo what is the most useful thing can you say to teachers, who want to teach effectively.Halima
murodova_zebo: Hello Angela  of course there are differences in school. American schools have all oportunities  their classes aare well equippted and they have all materials for their lessons. But i think the students are the same. They have active students, lazy like ours.
abdukaumova_farzona: thanks for unsers. And how do u think, what is good in US schools and what things u didn`t like from their.?
giyoeva: Did you see deaf students there? Anjela
murodova_zebo:  hello Halima, I want to say that teachers  should work very hard in their English and use many interactive mehods. And create useful materials and of course. Ypung teachers should sit at the lessons of experienced teachers.  I liketo read Forum amgazine for English teachers where i learn many new techniqes and approaches.
garthtaj: When I was a student at the Univerity of Minnesota there was one deaf student that attended all of the classes. He had a hearing person with him that translated the lectures using sign language, and when it was his turn to speak his interperter would read his hands and then speak to us. He was a director of a deaf school and was a great example of how he was able to succeed in school and then get a university degree

murodova_zebo: Yes Ibrohim  listening is very important.
abdukaumova_farzona: yeh ur rifgt, but when i was their i swo some students wich can`t controle their  feelings and tey do not good things. But about aducation i don`t know so more just know a few things. So what can u say about their life in school?
murodova_zebo: Yes i think you can if you want
garthtaj: We have problems in the US school becuase many students do not graduate from high school. THey have a chance for education, but decide they would rather work and make money and not finish their education. In teh long view this is bad as they would make more money if they stay in school
ibrahim_rustamov: there are VOA (Voice of American) BBC and other international radio stations which broadcast in English. I listened to them and wrote letter by usual post office. At that time I had no access to the Internet. Based on my previous English skills writing simple sentences, I used to write a dairy and continued writing three years! Sometimes I repeated sentences and sometimes I had to look dictionaries to complete my sentences. Now when I open my dairy I do not believe that once I wrote those sentences. By looking at my dairy I can see how my English improved. I recommend you to write at least 5 or 10 sentences each day.
murodova_zebo:  Farzona I didnt see any unusual things while i was  i school.Their school day is  alittle different they try to saty longer at school as they have many interesting activities.And i noticed  one thing that i like and wanted to have that in my school. It was Student Government.  It  like our student Action Commite. Students help to school and teachers.

murodova_zebo: Using blogs like diary it is very good too.  we have our blog wheer students write  news about their school  and town.In such way they improve their writing. My writing also improved by writing in blogs and wechats. Our blog adress is www.zeboniso.worpdress.com
abdukaumova_farzona: what was ur favourite food in ur US hostfamily or just in US?
murodova_zebo:  Akram there are some active students and not active students in my class too,I use different excerses  with students. I  want they all students were on task and do something at the lessons.
murodova_zebo: Sometimes i have class assistance at  my lessons. They are students who help me at the lesson. It is very good.
murodova_zebo: Olim and Madina are my active students. They help me alot at the English club.

Final EnglishTeacher Mentor Program

We participants of English Mentor program on October 6th had the last training with English specialist Bruce Lee Ingraham. As it was our last training we talked and discussed about all trainings we had this year. It must be mentioned we had 4 trainings with different English language specialists. All participants talked about what important things they learned from these trainings. Indeed, all trainings were very useful and informative and interesting. We updated our knowledge.

 

We learned many different ways to use Warm ups in the lessons, and chants and poems, fluency and accuracy. Earlier we paid little attention to phonetic because we focused on grammar, vocabulary and from training we were told about importance of phonetic and the ways how to use it.

 

All participants told that how they benefited from summer training which was from July 7th till 25th.It was the longest training and very useful. Our instructors Rich and Dot White gave us a lot of new information in Methodology and Materials Development and Professional development.

This summer training was very unforgettable and interesting. And it was very good organized all teachers stayed together morning till night. And we learned a lot from each other. Teachers were from different regions and with rich experience.

 

Now several mentor teachers got grant and will run one day workshop in their regions.

 

 

I want to thanks US Embassy  for this fantastic program we  English Teachers from  different regions of Tajikistan  take a lot of new information for ourselves and happy to share it  with our colleagues. We appreciate how US Embassy contributes a lot in our Education system and for our country.A big Tajik Rahmat to US Embassy.

Teacher’s Day at school

As today is Teacher’s day. Today was announced self govermening of students at school.it means that student were at the place of teachers and conducted lessons.In this day they feel what is teacher’s job.
The teacher of English was Holova Mohira a student of 10th form. She says:
I like English very much. Thast why in this day i wanted to be English teacher. I was afraid alitle how i will conduct lesson if students will not listen to me. Different feelings i had before entering the classroom.Students listened to me attentivily and i was very excited. I liked the lesson and want to be English teacher. And i want to congratulate all teachers and wish them all the best in their jobs and let all their dreams come true.

Teacher’s Day

The first Sunday of October we celebrate Teacher’s Day. This year we celebrate it on the 4th of October.
Teacher’s profession is very difficult but much respected one. It is a bit hard to handle with many different personalities. Teachers can inspire us and change the world.
Teacher’s profession teaches all other professions in the world. Teacher is a person who helps students, give knowledge and care and love. We come to school at the age of 6 or 7 and teacher takes our hand and bring us to the classroom where she/he learned us how to read and write and learn the outside world. As Alexander the Great said:” I am indebted to my father for living but to my teacher for living well’.
I remember my first teacher. He was very strict teacher. My Mother chose male teacher for me because male teachers are strict. I was very afraid of my teacher. I learn a lot from it. He was inspiration to us and instrument for learning. When I was child my teacher asked me who i would like to be in future. I would like to be doctor. Then later i change my mind and now I am teacher of English like my Mother. My grandparent’s were teachers and aunts are teachers. So teaching profession is in my blood. I like this profession very much. I like to share my knowledge with my students.
Many can teach.. Only a special few can reach. Teaching is a work of the heart. And now i want to take a opportunity and congratulate all teachers in the world with their professional holiday. And wish them happiness, strong health and many, many good students.
Now i am very happy that i am teacher. Students are my seeds and plant them and grow it and look after it he whole year and at the end of the school year i gather my harvest. To be an English Teacher is difficult but if you know your subject well and if you are creative and have desire to teach it is o.K. use many games, songs and role plays in my class. The job of a teacher is to get students laughing and when their mouths are open to give something on which to chew.
Nowadays we have lack of subjects’ teachers in our country and qualified teachers too. I hope, in future this problem will be solved.

I want to share with you recipe of perfect Teacher. This recipe of perfect teacher we made when we were at the Teacher Mentor seminar in summer in Dushanbe.

A perfect Teacher

A perfect teacher must have such qualities:
* hardworking
*honest, kind and love her/his profession
*patient
*qualified
*tolerant
*humorous
*modest
*must always be in the search of something new
*support and motivate students
* friendly
*creative
*willing to participate in different seminars and trainings and conference

THE CREATION OF THE TEACHER
God was creating teachers. It was His sixth day of ‘overtime’ and He knew that this was a tremendous responsibility for teachers would touch the lives of so many impressionable young children. An angel appeared to Him and said, “You are taking a long time to figure this one out.”
“Yes,” said the Lord, ” but have you read this order?”
TEACHER:
…must stand above all students, yet be on their level
… must be able to do 180 things not connected with the subject being taught
… must run on coffee and leftovers,
… must communicate vital knowledge to all students daily and be right most of the time
… must have more time for others than for herself/himself
… must have a smile that can endure through pay cuts, problematic children, and worried parents
… must go on teaching when parents question every move and others are not supportive
… must have 6 pair of hands.
“Six pair of hands, ” said the angel, “that’s impossible”
“Well, ” said the Lord, ” it is not the hands that are the problem. It is the three pairs of eyes that are presenting the most difficulty!”
The angel looked incredulous, ” Three pairs of eyes…on a standard model?”
The Lord nodded His head, ” One pair can see a student for what he is and not what others have labeled him as. Another pair of eyes is in the back of the teacher’s head to see what should not be seen, but what must be known. The eyes in the front are only to look at the child as he/she ‘acts out’ in order to reflect, ” I understand and I still believe in you”, without so much as saying a word to the child.”
“Lord, ” said the angel, ” this is a very large project and I think you should work on it tomorrow”.
“I can’t,” said the Lord, ” for I have come very close to creating something much like Myself. I have one that comes to work when he/she is sick…..teaches a class of children that do not want to learn….has a special place in his/her heart for children who are not his/her own…..understands the struggles of those who have difficulty….never takes the students for granted…”
The angel looked closely at the model the Lord was creating.
“It is too soft-hearted, ” said the angel.
“Yes,” said the Lord, ” but also tough, You can not imagine what this teacher can endure or do, if necessary”.
“Can this teacher think?” asked the angel.
“Not only think,” said the Lord,. “but reason and compromise.”
The angel came closer to have a better look at the model and ran his finger over the teacher’s cheek.
“Well, Lord, ” said the angel, your job looks fine but there is a leak. I told you that you were putting too much into this model. You can not imagine the stress that will be placed upon the teacher.”
The Lord moved in closer and lifted the drop of moisture from the teacher’s cheek. It shone and glistened in the light.
“It is not a leak,” He said, “It is a tear.”
“A tear? What is that?” asked the angel, “What is a tear for?”
The Lord replied with great thought, ” It is for the joy and pride of seeing a child accomplish even the smallest task. It is for the loneliness of children who have a hard time to fit in and it is for compassion for the feelings of their parents. It comes from the pain of not being able to reach some children and the disappointment those children feel in themselves. It comes often when a teacher has been with a class for a year and must say good-bye to those students and get ready to welcome a new class.”
“My, ” said the angel, ” The tear thing is a great idea…You are a genius!!”
The Lord looked and said “I didn’t put it there.”
