English Language Day in Sworde-Teppa
English Language Day
SWORDE-Teppa and partners arranged an ‘English Language Day’ in Kurgan-Tube, on Saturday the 10th of May. This continues the idea and the successful event organized in Kurgan-Tube by the British Embassy Dushanbe in 2007.
SWORDE-Teppa English & Education Centre, Kurgan-Tube, officially opened by HRH The Duke of York in 2006, will be hosting the event again this year. The main events will be held in the pleasant surroundings of the Centre. The broad theme of the event is English language, its teaching, the encouragement of teaching English language and the opportunities to which English language can lead.
The day started at 2 pm with an English Language Fair in the Centre grounds (with an assortment of information exhibits and activities), presentations in the Centre theatre, followed by a Reception for guests and finally a student’s disco (music in English language).
We two english teachers Zeboniso Murodova and Hayriniso Salimova and my students participated in English Language Day too. As Kurghan-Tude is not far from Sarband it is our town so we decided to come.We all toghether ordered one van and went to English Language Day.
Our students participated in Proverb competition. My students took one proverb and draw it on the posters. All my students took one proverb and draw the meaning of the proverb on their posters. But only of our students become winner. Here below are the results of the competition. Mr. Paul wrote us a great news.
Good news for you is that one of your posters came second and two others came joint fifth in the proverb competition. From 24 entrants in the competition, the six independent judges chose the following:
1st Place - (Lyceum No.1, K-T) “Live and Learn”.
2nd Place – (one of yours from Sarband) “You Know the Language You Know the World”.
3rd Place – (SWORDE-Teppa student) “Big Fish Eat Little Fish”.
4th Place – (SWORDE-Teppa student) “Friendship is Power”.
Joint 5th Place – (both Sarband) “Marriages are Made in Heavens” and “Cut Your Coat According to Your Clothes
Best regards,
Paul.
In my next post students will post their opinion about English language Day.
