Teacher: Dear boys and girls! Soon we’ll celebrate a great holiday – Victory Day. It’s a special day. It’s a wonderful holiday different from all other holidays. It is a national holiday and at the same time a very personal one.

Young generations know about the Great Patriotic War only from books and films. But it is difficult to believe that their hearts are not excited on Victory day. Every year War veterans in large cities and small villages come together to celebrated Victory Day. They traditionally go to the War memorials to honor the memory of war heroes. But the numbers of them become fewer from year to year. Time takes that historic day farther away from us, but we always must remember it because it is closely related with our grandparents or great grandparents which did all their best to bring this victory close. Soviet Union lost more than 20 million of people in that war and saved the world from fascism. We should never forget those who gave their lives for the Motherland. And our lesson is devoted to the War heroes.

Teacher: It is known in all over the worlds the deeds of Soviet people done for the sake of all mankind during the years of Great Patriotic War. Now we are going to read and dramatizing a
one piece of this story about Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya.

Student 1 : Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya was a Moscow schoolgirl. The fascists were not far from Moscow and Zoya became a partisan. She crossed the front line and joined group partisans. She was brave and never afraid of the enemies. One day a large group pf German soldiers and officers stopped at the village of Petrishchevo. During the night Zoya made her way into the village and when she left, all telephone communications had been destroyed and the houses had been fired in which the enemy men were sleeping. Two day she returned to Petrishchevo with another task but this time the young partisan was captured.
Two students comes to the blackboard and act this :

Fascist officer: «What is your name?»
Zoya: «I won\’t answer that question.»
Fascist officer: «The houses that were fired- was that your work? »
Zoya: «That\’s right.»
Fascist officer: «Your aim?»
Zoya: «To destroy you»

Student 1: They began to torture Zoya, wishing to get information about her comrades, where she had come from and who had sent her.
Zoya: « No, I won\’t tell»

Student 1 :That night Zoya was tortured again. Several times she was sent almost unclad into the streets and made to walk barefoot In the snow.
In the morning again:
Fascist officer: «Say who you are? » «Who sent you? » «Where did you come from? »
Student 1: No answers came from Zoya.
Then she was taken to the square In the middle of the village where a scaffold had been put up and the village people were brought there too. Zoya marched to the scaffold and made to stand on a box. The officer prepared to give the signal….
Zoya shouted: «Comrades! Have no fear! ». « Be brave, struggle, destroy the fascists!”. «I don\’t fear death, comrades». I \’m proud to die for my people. There are two hundred million of us. Victory will be ours!
Student1: the officer gave a signal…
The road to Minsk. Some eighty five kilometers from Moscow. A monument to a heroine. People come to Zoya. She stands proudly In the bright sun.

Listening to the song Katyusha and fill missing words. And sing it all together.

Song Katyusha.

Before listening to the song I gave some questions to students.
Pre-listening activity:
1 What type of music do you think this song will be?
2 Do you think the singer will be a man/ woman, over thirty/ under thirty, US, British?
3 Is this song going to be happy or sad?
4 What are some words you expect to hear? (prediction).
5 What is this song going about?
Listening activity:
1 to listen and fill in the missing words or they underline unusual, ungrammatical items or things that just don’t make sense;
2 to listen to the song and to write as many words as they can catch;
3 to tell the main idea of the song;
4 I make cards for a circle conversation. Everybody sits in a circle. The teacher turns over a card. One by one every student makes a sentence;
5 role play
Word Bingo–Students select words from the text of the song and place them in a bingo grid. Individually or in small groups, students then mark off the words as they hear them in the song. The first student or group to check off all the words is the winner.
Post listening
1 student writes an essay or has discussions
e.g For discussion:. If you had to give this song a new title, what would it be?
What happened with a girl in this song?
How girl felt? What did she do? What is this song about?.
At the end all students will sing these song and record it,
Students will draw this song on the piece of the paper how they imagine it.

Homework
The sons and daughters of all nationalities fought for our country. I’m sure your grandparents told you about this terrible war, if not ask them to tell and write a composition.“The Great Patriotic War in the life of my relatives.”
